You don’t have so many Odesk Upwork Connects in your account so my personal opinion is to use your connections or submit a proposal when you think you’re really perfect for the project otherwise not. Professionalism matters. Suppose you’re great at your skills but you’re not a professional in your field then how do you convince your client! A new client doesn’t know how much skill you’ve in your field! If they hire you and unfortunately you’re unable to satisfy the client then both of you face trouble.
The client would not give you money until you satisfy him with your work or you have to choose JOB WAS UNSUCCESSFUL and you have to click on return confirmation of Escrow payment. So both of you invest your time but gain nothing.
I’ve said the problem but not the solution so what you should do? Change your style from unprofessional to professional. Convince your client that what you can do for him. Use your skills and tell him how can you complete the job within time.

Before applying on a project you have to analysis the project description. If you think you’re perfect for that particular project then you can go ahead and invest your Odesk Upwork Connects otherwise not. Check what the client is asking? Its possible that sometimes a client do not provide too much information into their project details so you have to ask it as a question.
If you ask him questions, the client would realize that you have read his job details and you’re a professional. The budget may increase, same or decrease. It depends on your effort.

Always remember the client is not a robot so take your time, write what you think about the project and send the proposal to your client.Only send a proposal to your client if you are 100% sure the work is 100% perfect for you.
